Our current project is to establish the square that commemorates the birth of his majesty of the King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand at Mount Auburn hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on December 5, 1927.

Mr. Joseph Milano is President & CEO, The Union Oyster House, Boston, MA, “America's Oldest Restaurant”, Board of Directors, MA Restaurant Association 1978-81, 1991-94, Member: National Restaurant Association, Boston Better Business Bureau, Boston Chamber of Commerce, Young Presidents' Organization, World Presidents' Organization, Chief Executives Organization, Culinary Dept Advisory Board, Bunker Hill Community College, 1978, VP/Trustee, Middlesex Fells Nursing Home, Melrose, MA 1981-85, Trustee, Milano Family Realty Trust, Proprietor, Apple Hill Antiques.

Mr. Milano graduated from Norwich University , Northfield , VT “ Oldest Private Military College in the Nation”. He earned Bachelor of Science, Biology, 1966 and served as Class President 1964, 1965, 1966; Board of Directors, Alumni Assn 1977-82; President, Boston Alumni Club 1978; Board of Fellows; Partridge Society; Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees, 1983-Present.

Mr. Milano has served in Military Active Service/Reserve Duty such for ROTC Commission, Norwich University, 1966, U.S. Army Medical Service Corps, 1966-73; rank of Captain (Active duty 2 ½ years during Vietnam Conflict.), Aide-de-Camp to Governor of the Commonwealth of MA, 1982-83, Promoted to rank of Lieutenant Colonel, MA Organized Militia, 1982, Promoted to rank of Colonel, VT State Militia, 1985, Promoted to rank of Brigadier General, MA State Guard; assigned as Special Assistant to the Adjutant General, March 1990, Appointed Chief Military Aide-de-Camp for Governor William Weld and Governor Paul Cellucci, 1992-Present, Presidential appointment as Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army for Commonwealth of Massachusetts, July 1997-Present.

Mr. Milano had worked with Thailand and Thai community since 1979. In 1979 he was a member, Welcoming Committee, Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts (“AHAC” or “the Company”), to receive HRH Queen Sirikit in the Great Hall at Faneuil Hall, Boston, MA. Mr. Milano first visited to Thailand in 1983.

During 1988-1989, he petitioned City Council, Cambridge , MA , to pass resolution to rename the corner of Eliot and Bennett Streets in honor of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Through assistance of Ambassadors Nitya Polysogram and Vitthya Vejjajiva established contact with the King of Thailand's Personal Private Secretary in order to arrange an audience with the King to present, upon passage, the foregoing resolution during meetings in Thailand . n.b. Resolution passed on September 11, 1989 , by the City Council, City of Cambridge , MA , designating the corner of Eliot & Bennett Streets as HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej Square in recognition of the importance of his birth on December 5, 1927 , in the City of Cambridge . (The square is one block from Cambridge Hospital , today named Mount Auburn Hospital ).

In 989, he was the headed delegation to Bangkok to visit His Excellency Prince Thaweesan, Principal Private Secretary to His Excellency the King at the Grand Palace . Purpose was to discuss plans for AHAC Company's tour to Thailand in October and to request an audience with His Excellency the King. In October 1989, as Captain Commander of AHAC, received audience in Bangkok with President Sanya, former Prime Minister and current President of Privy Council of Thailand. Presented gifts to President Sanya for the King: a duplicate copy of the King's birth certificate from Cambridge , MA , and copy of Cambridge City Council Resolution designating HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej Square .

As Captain Commander/Brigadier General of AHAC Company, was joined by Generals Chivalet, Chan, Pichitr, Saiyuod and Boonsrang at River Kwai Kanchanaburi War Cemetery to present a memorial wreath at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier.

April 8, 1990 presided over AHAC ceremony to dedicate King Bhumibol Square in Cambridge , MA . In attendance were Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn; Thailand 's Ambassador to the United States , Vitthya Vejjajiva; Thailand 's Ambassador to the United Nations, Nitya Polysogram; and numerous Thai/American political, military and diplomatic leaders. Following the dedication ceremony hosted HRH Princess Chulabhorn and the Thai delegation at Faneuil Hall, Boston . Hosted dinner for HRH Princess Chulabhorn and her party at the Union Oyster House.

During November 12-14, 1992 , served on committee to recognize 100 th Anniversary of the King's Father, HRH Prince Mahidol of Songkla, and arrange for rededication of King's Square, Cambridge , MA , with participation by Crown Princess Sirindhorn. Hosted dinne

The 11 th day of November B.E. 2533 Mr. Milano was nominated and appointed a Commander of Thailand's Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant. This decoration was signed by General Chatichai Coonhavan, President of the Council of Ministers, on behalf of HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, King of Thailand, Sovereign Chief of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant.

On September 28, 2000 jointly with The King of Thailand Birthplace Foundation hosted HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana and a Thai delegation at the Union Oyster House on the occasion of the celebration of the 100 th Anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra The Princess Mother of Thailand .

Since 2000 to present, Mr. Milano serves with members of the Thai community as a Director of the King of Thailand Birthplace Foundation (“KTBF”).
