Attached Cover Letter and/or Resume
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am eager to continue in pursuing a job in construction engineering and management after earning my master degree in civil engineering at University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am pleased that I have found a "practical training" that, I feel, would be able to give me the opportunity to go beyond my experience and my knowledge. Furthermore, your company involves the activities in the construction industry in which I am interested.
After my graduation from Chulalongkorn University, one of the most prestigious universities in Thailand, I had the opportunity to acquire the working experience with Christiani & Nielsen (Thai) Public Company Limited. It is one of the famous construction contractors in Thailand. The construction project to which I was assigned was the construction of 24-storey residential condominium. My daily responsibilities, as a civil engineer on site, consisted of construction quality control and assurance, negotiation with material suppliers, material price survey and comparison, material take-off.
Now, as a recent graduate in construction engineering and management program at University of Wisconsin-Madison, I possess the required potential that, I feel, would help me become the best that I can be at the project management function. While pursuing my master degree, I consistently chose to take some business classes that would help expand my knowledge beyond degree requirements. Business courses that I took include Financial Accounting, Financial Management, Real Estate Process, Commercial Property Development. My research for a graduation purpose was the application of neural networks to predict the generation rates of construction and demolition waste in Wisconsin. The summary paper of this research will be published in the ASCE Construction Management Journal soon.
I feel that, by having the opportunity to work with your company, I would be able to apply my academic skills acquired from universities as well as my experience gained from working with the contractor for a continued success of your company. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity, while I am still in the United States, in receiving this "practical training". I am confident that I can demonstrate how I could efficiently contribute to the accomplishment of your company.
My resume is enclosed with this letter. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Akapop Nimmannit
Master of Science in Civil Engineering,
University of Wisconsin-Madison
