The event will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2006 from 10:00 am to 6:00 PM. Thai culture is the theme of this event. We wish to show as much as our beautiful culture to the people in New England and tourists of Cambridge. Thailand Day will present “authentic Thai culture”. The festival will begin with the Buddhist religious ceremony, offering alms to the monks at 10:30 AM. We offer the best market place for your shopping and information about Thailand at the festival. The shopping booths will be opened at 10:00 AM. You can buy Thai food to offer to the monks. If you are interested in performing meditation, you can meet the monks at their “dhutanga umbrella-tents”. Thai cultural parade will starts at noon time from the King Square follows Eliot Street, to J.F.K Street, turn on Brattle Street and comeback on the other side of Eliot Street to end at the King Square. The Mayor of Cambridge, Honorable Kenneth E. Reeves will ride Thai Sam-lor (tricycle) at the end of parade to preside opening. |

Thailand Day will present authentic Thai food that you may not find in any restaurant. The price is set to be lower than usual to make sure that everyone gets a chance to taste as many types of food as possible. The festival will present food and crafts for each region of Thailand for example; Northern is presented by Chiangmai pavilion, Southern is presented by Phuket pavilion, Northeastern is presented by Korat pavilion, Eastern is presented by Trad pavilion and Central is presented by Bangkok and Ayudthaya pavilions. . You will find many symbolic and signature food of each region to be unique and interesting.

The famous Thai sports, Taklaw and Thai boxing will be performed. Boston Muay Thai Academy will perform Thai boxing (muay Thai). Thai dances of each region will be performed all day. His Majesty King is also a musician. He composed many jazz songs since he was young. The Jazz band will play Jazz music composed by His Majesty King every hour. A famous Mhor-rum group from Northeastern region will perform Mhor-rum zing (the play of I-sarn band).
